Sorbitol less commonly known as Glucotrol is a sugar alcohol with a sweet taste. It can be obtained by reduction of glucose. Sorbitol is commercially available in liquid/syrup and crystal/powder form. Because of its sweet taste, it is widely used as a partial replacement for sucrose. It is non-cariogenic and Humectant in nature, has only about two-thirds the calories of sugar.
