The plant was built for the purpose of manufacturing desiccated coconut to supply its then parent company, Peter Paul Inc. of Naugatuck, Connecticut, USA, makers of the famous Almond Joy and Mounds chocolate bars. Additionally, it was in 1962 when a Filipino group purchased and has maintained management control until today.
